What is Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses high-energy acoustic waves to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. It is designed to reduce pain, improve mobility, and accelerate recovery—especially for chronic or hard-to-treat conditions.
Conditions Effectively Treated:
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Tennis Elbow (Lateral Epicondylitis)
- Calcific Shoulder Tendinopathy
- Achilles Tendinopathy
- Patellar Tendinopathy (Jumper’s Knee)
- Scar Tissue and Soft Tissue Adhesions
- And more
What to Expect During Treatment
Before starting, our physiotherapist will perform a thorough assessment and develop a personalized care plan. Each shockwave therapy session lasts 10–15 minutes, during which targeted acoustic waves are delivered to the affected area.
These waves penetrate deep into the tissue to:
- Increase blood flow
- Stimulate cell regeneration
- Break down calcium build-up in tendons
This helps relieve pain and inflammation naturally. Treatment is generally well-tolerated, with only mild discomfort for some patients. Many notice improvements after just a few sessions, and there’s little to no downtime—so you can return to your normal activities immediately.
*For first-time patients, an initial assessment must be conducted by the physiotherapist to determine if this treatment is suitable.
